History

The revolution began in the 1920s, when Grandmaster Carlos Gracie was the first to introduce jiu-jitsu to his family. Over the years, members of the Gracie family dedicated their lives to perfecting techniques that would give the weak the ability to prevail over the strong. The superiority of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu was proven once and for all during the unforgettable UFC 1, broadcast in 1993. Today, the Gracie family's influence continues to expand, as they have been invited to redefine the bare-knuckle fighting program of military and police organizations around the world. The name Gracie has become synonymous with self-defense, but what the world doesn't know is that the family has a secret they hold dearer than any fighting technique - The Gracie Diet. Over the course of his long life, Carlos Gracie developed, defined and perfected this diet to ensure excellent health and vitality for all members of the Gracie clan. Now, for the first time ever, Carlos' nephew, Rorion Gracie, shares with you the formidable secrets that have energized the Gracie family tradition of excellence for more than 80 years.

GM Rorion Gracie

Rorion Gracie wore his first kimono before he could walk. In 1978, he introduced Gracie Jiu-Jitsu to America. He is the co-creator of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and one of the few people in the world to hold the 9th dan red belt in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. In addition to his martial arts achievements, he holds a law degree from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Rorion, who lives in Southern California with his wife Silvia, is working to ensure the legacy doesn't stop with him. On any given day, some of his ten children can be found teaching, training and learning what it takes to carry on the Gracie tradition.

Gualtiero Marchesi

Gualtiero Marchesi (19 March 1930 – 26 December 2017) was an Italian chef, unanimously considered the founder of the new Italian cuisine. In the opinion of many, he was the most famous Italian chef in the world and the one who has contributed most to the development of modern cuisine, placing the Italian culinary culture among the most important around the world.

Feed for good was his philosophy. Chef Marchesi was an important figure in sharing the concept that what you eat determines your state of health.

Chef Marchesi has dedicated a specific recipe for the Gracie Diet, following its parameters, understanding the powerful healthy benefits involved in this way of eating.

Fabrizio Tesse

Born in Milan in 1978, he trained at Arona's hotel school. His career began at the Michelin-starred 'Taverna del Pittore' in Arona.

After various experiences, including winning a Michelin star at Caffè Groppi, he worked in Spain and Liguria. He spent 8 years as sous-chef at Villa Crespi under Antonino Cannavacciuolo.

Since 2012, he's been chef at Locanda di Orta, earning a Michelin star.

From 2017, he also leads Ristorante Carignano in Turin, blending innovation with tradition.
